I got started looking at the Brother HL 2140, and other printers, when I moved my accounting practice to my home office. I knew for a fact that my cheesy little Lexmark inkjet was just not going to get the job done.

Unfortunately, I had not shopped for ANY printer for a number of years, much less a state of the art laser printer like the Brother HL 2140. I really didn't know where to start. I spoke to the office manager at my former accounting firm, and asked her for advice.

She suggested either an all in one printer, or a personal laser printer. So I went online to Amamzon.com, and started reading info and reviews. Finally, I had 3 in mind: the Canon Pixma ip3600, the Canon MF3240,(both are all-in-one printers), and the Brother HL 2140.

It was a pretty difficult choice, as all of them rated at least 4 stars, and had great reviews. It blew my mind how inexpensive they are! They all can be purchased in the neighborhood of 100.00!

I paid close to 1100.00 for my old Panasonic laser printer back in 1990!

The fact is, I already have a fax machine, and I rarely scan documents etc. So I was heavily leaning toward buying the HL 2140. I finally left the decision up to my wife, who will be using the printer as well. She also read some reviews on Amazon and looked over the features and specifications of the Brother HL 2140.

Finally, after reading a particularly informative HL 2140 review, and seeing that a 95.50 discount was being offered, she decided we should buy the HL 2140!

The Brother HL 2140 Is Ultra Fast "On The Draw!"

When I first took the HL 2140 out of the box, I was shocked at how compact it is. According to the specs, it weighs 15 pounds. Heck, my clunky old laser weighed 36 pounds!

It fit perfectly in my ultra small office area! The included instructions are simple to follow, and I had the Brother HL 2140up and running quickly. In fact, this little dude powers up in less than 10 seconds!

The paper tray holds a robust 250 sheets, and the unit handles standard sheets as well as legal. In my practice, I print lots of envelopes, and the HL 2140 does a beautiful job with them.

However, it is the speed and print quality of the Brother HL 2140 that is SO impressive! I mean to tell you, this titan of a printer sends out sheets at up to 23 per minute, and the crispness of the text is a sight to behold!
